Fishing Report

HAPPY INDEPENDANCE DAY EVE!! It’s been crazy around the shop since the crabs have been on the attack. Finding time to write a brief report is becoming next to impossible, so let me bring you up to date while I can. The surf fishing in IBSP has been good with fluke in the 18″ to 22″ inch class taking bucktail gulp combos with a plain gulp teaser fished above. Color is a matter of choice, white is the tried and true standard while chartreuse has it’s followers and is a close second in terms of production. Look for cuts and drop-offs along the surf line to cast your presentations. Small blues and a few striped bass are being taken on cut bunker when these fish are in casting range of the beach. Night time sharking is gaining participants as social media post of large sand tiger sharks being caught and released increases. The real excitement around here has been the nice size catches of keeper crabs coming in from the west side of the bay in our area. Just a short ride in one of our rental boats and your in the thick of things. The dock out back is producing some nice keepers also but just not the boat numbers. That brings you guys up to date for now. Enjoy your holiday week! Stay safe and have fun!… John Yac
