Not to sound like a broken record but, bluefish, bass, and fluke are still taking bait and artificial lures along the surf line and in the inlet. The bay is also holding it's share of fish. Bait or artificial lures, pick your poison. No great blitz but a pick never the less. The boat guys out are still trolling up some nice bass with one hitting the scales at 50 lbs. plus. Crabbing is still a waiting game... John Yac

With sun in our forecast and increasing temperatures for the rest of the week this may be just what we need to kick start the fishing and crabbing in our area. Meanwhile the slow pick goes on of bass, blues and fluke both in the ocean and back in the bay... John Yac

If you don't like fishing in crowds, these days are for you! There is a lot less fishing pressure lately due to the unsettled weather. These less than perfect conditions cause many fair weather anglers to stay at home resulting in plenty of room at your favorite places to fish. Keeper bass and some nice blues have been finding their way to local scales but not in great numbers due to the lack of participation. There is a few nice fluke also finding their way into the mix. What can I say without sounding repetitious? But nothing has really changed from the past few days. Blues, bass and some fluke remain the main targets in our surf line. Bait or artificial lures is a matter of choice, and using the one method you have the most faith in is your ticket to success... John Yac

The beat goes on! Still picking blues and short to keeper size bass in the surf. Add to that some nice fluke have been showing their faces also. Bait is still the number one go to method, while the usual, poppers, swimmers, bucktails and metal are also producing some fish. Crabbing is still slow but at least there getting a few... John Yac
