The Latest and Most Relevant Fishing Updates You Should Know

Weather may be not so good, but fishing remains steady! Bass and blues in the surf, with still some slammer blues roaming the bay. Case in point, Nick Kube last night landed a 40" 13 lb. blue from the end of our dock on cut bait. This fish marks #88 for Nick off the dock in three weeks! Another nice fish weighed in was a 39" 19.35 lb. bass taken in the surf by Mr Campos. Good news they are finely starting to catch keeper crabs off the dock. With the Memorial Day weekend in our rear view mirror and the fluke season finely set in N.J. we can now get into our late spring, early summer fishing mode. Blues and bass are still the main targets for our surf and boat guys, while some nice keeper fluke have already been taken in both areas. The bay still holds plenty of mixed size blues and small bass around the bridges. Pick your favorite method, bait or lures both will produce at this time of year. >>> The Berkley Striper Club is running (Summer Fishing Fun For Kids) fishing contest from Memorial Day to Labor Day. All kids 14 years old and under are eligible. Legal size striped bass, bluefish, weakfish, fluke, and blue claw crabs will be entered. Kids must catch the fish on there own with no adult help. Enter the fish and crabs accompanied by a adult at the Dock Outfitters and receive a gift bag for your entry. Great weather brings good fishing! The blue fish bite continues with the number of keeper bass mixed in on the rise. Cut bunker is still the number one bait for these two, but bass on clams is also on the rise. Expect some more fishing pressure as the holiday weekend unfolds. But the big question still remains, when will the crabbing pick up ?? John Yac

The first holiday weekend of the warm weather season is knocking on the door. Expect a few more anglers at your favorite fishing hole. The bay is loaded with blues taking poppers in our area and the local bridges are holding a fair amount small bass. The beaches out front are producing blues and a few keeper bass.
