Fishing Report

The first holiday weekend of the warm weather season is knocking on the door. Expect a few more anglers at your favorite fishing hole. The bay is loaded with blues taking poppers in our area and the local bridges are holding a fair amount small bass. The beaches out front are producing blues and a few keeper bass. Crabbing still remains a mystery but as we say any day now... John Yac

Another good day for surf fishing! Blues and some keeper bass are cursing our local beaches taking cut bunker, clams and a assortment of artificial lures. Poppers, swimmers, bucktails and metals all seem to be working. Still very slow in the crabbing department... John Yac

All sizes of blues remain in our area. Along with these eating machines there are a few nice keeper bass mixed in. Cut bunker remains the bait of choice while poppers, bucktails, and medals are always worth a try. With light winds and overcast skies along with light fishing pressure today looks like a great day to hit the beach...John Yac

The action in the surf gets better by the day. Slammer blues down to cocktail size seem to be everywhere. More and more keeper bass are also finding there way to the scales taking everything from cut bunker to bucktails. The boats trolling large bunker spoons are also having banner days. Crabbing remains slow for some reason but as you know that will change on a dime. Tomorrow is the Governors Cup Surf Tournament at Island Beach State Park. We will be open at 4:30 AM for all your bait and tackle needs... John Yac

Large schools of bait starting to come in close to the beach! You know what happens when large schools of bunker come in close, they bring large blues and large bass close to the shoreline. James Blandino was out on his kayak this morning and ran into one of these large schools of bait, he began snagging and dropping and was rewarded with a 47" - 40.25 lb. bass, which he weighed-in at our shop. Things are starting to heat up in close now so don't sit home and wait for the phone to ring. Crabbing is still very slow out back, but that should change very soon... John Yac
