Small bass in the surf and blues of mixed sizes in the bay is what's happening right now. Bait on both fronts seems to be the way to go, but the died in the wool plug guys are getting their share of action in each location. Crabbers are still picking keeper crabs off our dock, we have a few boats in the water now along with our pontoon boats ready for your pleasure... Slammer blues are increasing in numbers both in the bay and out front in the ocean. Mixed in with these fish in both locations are short to keeper size bass. Cut bunker and large poppers are always the way to go with those tackle busting blues. Clams, sand and blood worms along with X-Raps, SP style swimmers and buck tails will all score on the bass. Crabbers have been catching keeper size crabs off our dock for a few days now, no great blitz but a good start to the season... John Yac >>> We are still looking for help at the Dock! Nice fresh bunker and sand worms for the weekend! With a great weather forecast and some keeper bass in our area this will be a great time to hit the beach. Reports of slammer blues just to the south of us at Graveling Point is a great sign they will be here any day!... Great weather day today! The rivers and back bays are still producing short bass and some nice winter flounder. Use worms and clams on the bass and flatties for bait. Small swimmers and rubber tails are driving those small bass crazy! The surf seems a bit slow right now but that should change soon... John Yac

Things have been picking up in Island Beach State Park the past couple of days. A keeper size bass or two have been taken on the ocean side both on bait and artificial lures. Clams are always an early season favorite along with blood and sand worms, while rubber swim shad and SP style swimmers also make good artificial choices. Rising air temperatures along with southerly winds will start to warm the ocean waters increasing the action... John Yac
