Things have been picking up in Island Beach State Park the past couple of days. A keeper size bass or two have been taken on the ocean side both on bait and artificial lures. Clams are always an early season favorite along with blood and sand worms, while rubber swim shad and SP style swimmers also make good artificial choices. Rising air temperatures along with southerly winds will start to warm the ocean waters increasing the action... John Yac

The bay and river has been loaded with bait! Large spearing and bunker are being chased by schoolie size bass and if you look close enough, nice size winter flounder are also getting in on the action. Oyster Creek, Toms River and the bay side of Seaside Park have been the recent hot spots. We are now carrying SAND worms along with BLOOD worms for your live bait selections. Small SP style swimmers and thin rubber jigs are also scoring on these fish... John Yac

Happy Spring!! It sure was a crazy winter, weather wise that is, but that's in our rear view mirror now and ahead lies a new fishing season! Small to keeper size bass have been taken around the local bridges and down by the Oyster Creek power plant. Winter flounder is a pick up by the Mantoloking Bridge. We will be kicking off the season with a HUGE TACKLE SALE!! on the weekend of April 1st and 2nd, so stand by for details to come. It sure feels good to be talking about fishing again!!... John Yac
