Bring a extra layer today when heading out to the surf! The wind, though at your back, will still feel a lot cooler, so a good wind breaker is definitely in order. Still only shorts reported yesterday in the surf. Poppers, swimmers, rubber swim shad and metals all worked. Cut bunker and clams are good for those who just want sit and wait things out... John Yac

Welcome December! Wow that was fast, the count down to Christmas begins! The cooler weather and gusty winds has put a damper on the fall run and fishing participation. The large schools of bait have moved off and so did the fish. There is smaller size bass being taken right now on both lures and bait. We still have some nice live eels and green crabs in stock... Rain gear day #2. We may be experiencing two rainy days in a row which we surly need but the fish are still here and willing to eat. Swimmers, poppers and metals all scored keeper bass yesterday in IBSP, no real monsters but very respectable fish never the less. Tomorrow is Dec. 1st already which puts us in the final countdown of the 2016 fall fishing season so stop making excuses and get out there... John Yac

Rain Gear Day! >> Mild air temperatures with rain on tap for us today so rain gear is a must when you head out. The bite has slowed quite a bit in the passed couple of days with first light and dusk being the prime times. Mid day tides have become hit and miss but in any case artificial lures have been out fishing bait. Poppers, swimmers and metals are still the way to go but a good idea would be to start adding teasers to your swimming and metal presentations. Fisherman have been finding sand eels in the stomachs of the bass being cleaned so a thin long teaser is the way to go. Not into plugging? Cut fresh bunker and clams remain tried and true baits for this time of the year... John Yac

Fishing Report

The bite goes on! Yesterday was another good day in the surf. Keeper bass were being taken from Lavellette to IBSP. The schools of bunker remain on the move with hungry striped bass in hot pursuit. Rubber swim baits and SP style swimmers remain the number one choice of artificial lures. Poppers, metal lipped swimmers, darters and wide profile metals are also some good choices if the conditions allow. Cut bunker and clams will always be the fresh bait of choice. We have some nice live eels just to switch things up a bit... John Yac
