Some slammer blues moved into our area yesterday just to make things interesting for the snag and drop and trolling guys. Huge schools of bunker in close seem to be attracting tackle busters along with some nice keeper bass. Poppers seem to be the go to lure when anglers are on these fish and don't want to throw bait, mean while, SP style swimmers are accounting for some nice fish off the beach... That's a little better! Yesterday in the middle of the day, as the extra low tide approached, the bass turned on within casting range. The bulk of the action was between Ortley and Seaside Hights. Poppers, swimmers, buck tails and rubber shad all were scoring on a nice school of keeper bass. The fish seemed to just appear in the heavy surf with no school of bait visible. Yesterday's action just supports my theory that you have to get off the couch, grab your rod and work the shoreline.
