Fishing Report

All types of bait out front in the surf with the number of fish on them slowly increasing. Blues and keeper bass are enjoying the selection of baits now present in the surf. No big numbers with bass but the night time bite is out producing the daytime. These fish are taking both cut natural baits and artificial lures. Swimmers, with a teaser out front and poppers are leading the pack right now on the artificial front. Mullet, cut bunker and clams are always good bets in the bait department... John Yac

Rain will be moving out later this AM, winds will be cranking up but NW is the forecast so no problem casting along the shore line. Still blues and keeper bass around, so why not pick up a rod or two and give it a try? The back side of IBSP is producing some small bass on plugs and our local bridges at night are still producing small bass. Yesterday Phil from the shop was out on the dock for a couple of hours and managed to put together 13 nice size keeper crabs, nice catch for this time of the year!... Big Bass!! Yes things are starting to happen in our area but as usual the boat guys are the first ones to score. Trolling large bunker spoons and snag and drop is the way to go. The surf guys have been picking smaller bass on bait and lures with blues mixed in. All good signs of things to come. The weekend will see a drop in temperatures with winds gusting, but as of now a NW wind direction is in the forecast, great winds for us fishing the surf... John Yac

Fishing Report

Plenty of bait around just not too many fish. Reports of a few large bass being taken by boat fisherman just north of us using the snag and drop method. Trolling bunker spoons is another way to score this time of year. The surf bite has been slow with still some small blues and a few keeper bass. You know the drill, clams, cut mullet and bunker chunks are your bait choices. We have a large supply of local frozen mullet along with fresh clams and live eels. Casting poppers and swimmers also is a good idea while watching your bait rods... John Yac
