Boats are still doing good on the spring run bass. Trolling large bunker spoons and using the snag and drop method is putting boat anglers into 40 plus lb. fish. In contrast the surf angler right now has fewer and smaller blues with a occasional keeper bass in the mix for his targets. Crabbing remains good from our dock and we had a boat check out good luck point the other day, he returned with 4 dozen large crabs and threw back many 4 and 4 1/2 inchers... John Yac

The hot bite award yesterday has to go to the blue claw crab! Catches of 2 to 3 dozen plus nice keepers was the norm for those venturing out on our dock. If crab sauce or steamed crabs or both are on your mind come on down. Fishing brought a mixed bag of fish yesterday with blues, bass, black drum and fluke all being taken by shore bound anglers. The boats a still beating up on the bass with trolling large bunker spoons and snag and drop methods accounting for fish up to 40 plus lbs.... John Yac

A lot of bait in the wash but not many fish! Anglers are finding schools of bunker moving in and out of casting range from Seaside Park thru IBSP but very few fish are in pursuit. The hot spot still seems to be the very southern end of IBSP where they are picking blues and keeper bass on both lures and bait. Remember now that it's fluke season the 2 fish at 16" taken from the beach in the park are once again allowed. These fish count towards your 5 fish at 18" bag limit. Crabbing out back is hot right now with catches of 2 to 3 dozen keepers per crabber the norm...John Yac

Fishing has definitely slowed down a bit from the hot bluefish and bass action we have been enjoying the past several weeks. Fluke are being taken in the inlets and just inside the bays. Crabbing is on the upswing off the dock the past couple of days with catches of 2 dozen plus keepers going to those willing to try... John Yac

The weekend crows are gone so getting your favorite spot to fish with little to no company becomes a reality. Keeper bass and large blues continue to be taken by shore bound anglers both with bait and artificial lures. Cut bunker and clams remains the go to baits, while poppers, swimmers and metals are the lures of choice. Crabbing off the dock remains a pick and blues of mixed sizes roam the bay its just a matter of being in the right place at the right time. Fluke are being taken in the inlets by no word about the surf yet. Looking for live killies? We got them... John Yac
