Big blues on both sides of the Island with some small to keeper bass mixed in now and then. The blues are taken poppers and metals where ever you find these 8 lb. to 12 lb. plus tackle busters. Cut baits and clams will always work for those dyed in the wool bait guys. Crabbing in the bay and lagoons remain a slow pick of keepers for those willing to put in some time... John Yac

The weather may be cool but the blue fishing remains hot! Double digit size blues are still being taken from Manasquan Inlet to the north down to Barnegat Inlet to the south. Cut baits and all types of metals are still doing the trick on these tackle busters. Bluefish are also roaming the bay chasing schools of bunker and spearing. On the crabbing front. The bay and lagoons are producing keeper crabs for those willing to put in the time... John Yac

Big blues continue to assault the beaches in our area. Small to keeper size bass are also in the mix. Cut bait and clams on the bait side while metals, swimmers and poppers will cover your artificial needs. Just a heads up when you are catching big blues on artificial lures. Remove the front hooks, blues 99% of the time will hit from the rear leaving that front hook swinging wildly when you are unhooking the fish. Better be safe than sorry!... John Yac
