SAND EELS?? Sure starting to look that way. Some nice fish were taken on Ava and needle fish style baits the past two days. This usually signals sand eels are present. Birds diving on schools of bait with no visual water disturbance is another sign. If all this is true the bass bite should extend into December this year, wouldn't that be nice! Meanwhile clams and cut bunker are still brining bass to the dinner table... John Yac

Fishing Report

East winds today will produce plenty of wave and white water conditions. The bait fishing surfcaster will find holding bottom a bit challenging and the plug caster will have to move to heavier lures that will cut into the wind. While the feeding bass and bluefish will be enjoying the turbulent conditions, finding ambushing their prey much easier. The bite has slowed down a bit over the last two days, while schools of bait remain present, so remember things can turn on a dime! We have green crabs for all you tog fisherman and live eels for you trophy hunters... John Yac
