A change in wind direction today may increase the bite! The north winds today should bring a increase in the shore bite. Water temps are around 60 degrees but that should drop some with the wind shift the next two days. Small blues and small to keeper size bass are still in and out of the surf line depending on the bait present. Cut bunker and clams will cover your bait requirements while swimming plugs and metals should cover your artificial bait needs. Live eels, sand worms, fresh clams and green crabs cover our live bait selections. Fresh bunker and fresh frozen mullet are also available... John Yac

Yesterday afternoon sure didn't feel like fall with air temps in the mid 70's and bright sun. But do not despair, check your calendars the fall run of fish is still coming, we will see some nice fish making their way to the scales with surf and boat anglers hot in pursuit. For now small blues and shad are in and out of the surf line chasing rain fish. The night tides and also at first light are producing some small bass both on clams and swimming plugs. Remember we will have live eels, sand worms, and green crabs from now through the end of the season... John Yac

All the stars are in place! Surf conditions, water temps, and tons of bait all spell feeding fish on a fall migration. So where are all these fish exactly? Just ask the boat guys, they are trolling them, jigging them and the ever popular snag and drop method are all taking place just off shore way out of reach of the shore bound angler. But don't despair, it's early in the run and all we need is for these schools of larger baits to move in within casting distance or another sand eel invasion as we experienced a few years back and bingo, off to the races we go!... Good Day! so lets go fishing! Still reports of small blues and small bass in our area. Along with the small blues during the day short bass are now starting to show on the daylight tides. Just about any cut bait will work on the blues, but clams and thin metals are the ticket for the day time bass... John Yac
