Possible rain gear day! Only 20% chance but better safe than sorry. Still some small blues taken cut mullet and small metals. More and more short bass are being reported, while clams during the day seems to be the ticket, swimming plugs are catching them on night tides right up to first light. Also live eels fished in likely bass haunts during night tides will at times surprise! Crabs are still being taken off the dock by those willing to put in the time. Live eels, sand worms, fresh bunker and clams, mullet and soon live green crabs are just some of the baits available at our shop... John Yac

The big girls are starting to make their appearance! Yes striped bass up to 28 lbs. were taken just off shore the last couple of days. Yes, you guessed it, snag and drop was the method used. The surf on the other hand is producing small to medium size blues on cut mullet. Metals and poppers will also work on these blues. They are still picking keeper crabs off our dock along with small blow fish. Looking for live eels or really nice sand worms look no further, we also have fresh frozen mullet, fresh bunker and clams. So for all your fishing needs stop in and see us... John Yac

Just about back on track! The water has cleaned up some, the surf is manageable, now and all that is needed is a little more sand on some of our beaches. For the fisherman that have ventured out, short bass on clams and some small blues mostly on mullet was the rewards for their efforts. We have fresh and salted clams, live eels, frozen mullet and vacuum packed bunker. Some keeper crabs are still available from our dock and small blowfish are being taken now and then... John Yac

Much better fishing day! With each passing tide the water will become more and more fishable. Things will go back to normal we hope, with the bait fish running the shore line and hungry fish hot in pursuit. Instead of waiting for a phone call saying the bite is on, get out there and see for yourself, it's much more rewarding when you blaze your own trail... John Yac

Believe it or not it looks like we dodged a bullet! With Joaquin on a track not to make landfall anywhere on the east coast we can have a sigh of relief. Our beaches are taken some what of a beating never the less with all these strong NE winds and higher tides but no where near the damage we would have experienced if the storm had made landfall in or near our area. The long range forecast is for sunny skies and temperatures in the 70's. While we wait for better fishing conditions this is a great time to go over our gear in anticipation of the fall run. On that note we still have a few Penn reels left at our blow out prices and just to sweeten the deal we will load the reel with the line of your choice for free! ... John Yac
