Cocktail blues on mullet in IBSP yesterday. A school of small to medium size bluefish were on a school of mullet yesterday in the park. Small bass are still hanging around the north jetty. Reports of brown sharks at first light also are coming in. The bay is giving up some bigger blowfish mixed in with decent size kingfish. Crabbing remains picky with many shorts to weed through. The shop got in a load of FRESH MULLET yesterday, a sign of things to come... 911 a day we will never forget!   Lets take a minute out of our busy lives today to remember that tragic day 14 years ago and remember that since that day the world will never be the same.  Fluke season is coming to a close on Sept 26th, the 2015 fluke season was no great shakes with very few keepers being take by surf and boat anglers alike. Small blues and small bass are being taken in the surf right now. Concentrate your efforts around the north jetty in IBSP. "Local's Summer" A great time of the year if you live at the shore. Crowds are gone, beaches and restaurants become accessible once again. The surf fishing is improving with a few more fluke being taken and some more small blues. Add to that mix some short bass and you have the surf scene right now. Crabs are still providing some nice catches for those willing to work at it. Blow fish are gaining in numbers and size out back along with a few nice size kingfish... Take a deep breath the invasion is over! The beaches finally belong to the fisherman once more. Finding your favorite spot with bathers and buggy boards is finally gone, time to get into the fall run groove. Some small bass are being taken from the jetty in IBSP along with some small fluke and blues. I was testing the waters yesterday in the park and to my surprise I hooked into a nice size red drum, great fighting fish! Crowds seem to be not so bad this holiday weekend for some reason. Just a heads up, we are now stocking live eels for the fall bass run and will have them throughout the season. Same goes for sand worms, fresh bunker and local mullet. This is a great time to start going over your tackle!
