Fishing Report

With all this heat and humidity comes southerly winds which is no friend to the surf fisherman. These winds have a tendency to lower water temps just enough to put the fish off their feed, not a good thing for the surf bound angler. But here we are in the summer mode now and we just have to ride things out. Fluking in the surf is a slow pick and sharks and rays at night have also slowed down a bit. Crabbing is still a matter of weeding through a ton of small crabs to put together a catch. Small snapper blues remain consistent from our dock... John Yac

If the fishing could only match the weather! Yes a couple of beautiful weather days in a row, I wish I could say that about the fishing. A slow pick in the surf by day and a little better bite by night sums up what's going on right now. Fluke are still falling to buck tail gulp combos and kellie squid combos just not in large the numbers that we would like seeing this time of year. Sharking at night is still good. Keep your cut baits fresh and you should be fine. Crabbing still remains a process of weeding through a bunch of shorts to come up with a decent catch of keepers. Our rental boats are having a easier time at this due to their ability to move and find the crab. Snapper blues, although small right now are being taken from the dock along with some small blowfish... John Yac

Looks like another great weather day! Get out there and enjoy! Fluking from the beach has slowed down some, while the inlets are doing much better with fluke. Still some sharks and rays at night. The bay is giving up snapper blues and small blow fish in all the usual spots. Crabbing has become a matter of weeding through a ton of shorts to put together a catch of some nice keepers... John Yac

Now that's a lot better! Finely able to breath today, low humidity and mid 80 temperatures makes for a great beach day. Fluke and small blues in the surf by day and sharks, rays and yes that elusive striped bass every now and then when you don't expect it on the evening tides. Buck tail gulp combos or striped squid instead of the gulp, your choice for the fluke, cut or hole mullet along with fresh bunker chunks for the blues. Thin metals are also worth a try. Crabs, snapper blues, and blow fish remain the main targets off our dock... John Yac

Wish there was something new and exciting to report other then a break in this miserable heat wave coming tonight with tomorrow forecasted to be beautiful. Not too many fisherman yesterday and who can really blame them for not wanting to leave their air conditioned houses. Fluke remain the number one target in the surf while a few keeper bass here and there on clams are being reported. Crabbing remains good both from the dock and our rental boats. Snappers are keeping the kids busy while mom and dad crab...John Yac
