Fishing Report

The party goes on just out of our reach of the shore bound angler as usual. Surf anglers from Lavallette to Seaside Park yesterday stood and watched boat anglers take fish while there rods remained silent. There is plenty of bait just off shore but for surf bound anglers it's just out of reach. The bite for us surf guys for the past few days has been all in the dark, clams, bunker and swimming plugs have all been catching keepers. But soon as first light, the party is over.... John Yac

A huge, "Thank you for your service" to all my fellow veterans today, for without them the freedoms we enjoy and sometimes take for granted in this great country of ours would not exist! "Land of the free because of the brave". The weather remains great, a few more bass would be nice, but there is still plenty of bait in close, and the surf anglers are picking away on some nice fish both on bait and plugs... John Yac

Fishing Report

Things have slowed down a bit from the hot in close action shore bound anglers have been enjoying. Still plenty of bait around from peanut bunker to full size bunker with clouds of rain fish coming and going. The important thing to remember when there is several different baits around is to match the hatch! Fish will key in on one size and action of one specific bait fish and totally ignore all others, this makes your lure selection that more difficult. But when you do match the hatch and come up with the right lure and present it in the right way BINGO! fish on! Something to think about... John Yac

The north jetty at Island Beach Park is finely open to fishing! One of the premier fishing spots in IBSP is now available to shore bound anglers. A couple of extra layers of clothing won't hurt today before heading to the beach. There is still plenty of bait around and large blues and striped bass are still in pursuit. Cut bunker and clams are the top choices in the bait categories, while large poppers, swimming plugs and metals will cover your artificial needs... John Yac

Fishing Report

You can add some slammer blues to the list of big boys hitting the beach. Blue fish in the 10 lb plus range were mixed in with the bass chasing those schools of bunker yesterday. The majority of action has been on bunker and the snag and drop method is still your best bet when possible. But showing up at the beach with fresh bunker just in case you can't snag one is a smart move. Large poppers and swimming plugs should not be overlooked for these are tried and true lures to use when large bass and blues are on the prowl.... John Yac
