Fishing Report

Well we're finally up and running once again, hope they got all the bugs out this time. Yesterday we had some quality fish hit the beach in IBSP. The fish were in the 20 lb class and were taken on the snag and drop method. There were large schools of peanut to full size bunker within casting range and the bass were in hot pursuit. Got some reports back from the beach today and the large schools of bait are just out of casting range but that can change at any time so be ready... John Yac

Tired of reading about all the big bass the boats are getting Manasquan and north? Well I wish I had something different to tell you, but I don't. The only positive that comes out of this is, the fish are close, they are on big schools of bunker, and all it would take is for the bunker to slide a bit south and a little west and bingo! This may be brought on by the falling temperatures forecasted for the remainder of the week, all we can do is hope. We have fresh clams, fresh bunker, live eels and sand worms, so we're ready. If SP Minnows, Bombers, X-Raps and Mambo Minnows are your thing we have a nice selection to chose from... John Yac

Big fish are still to the north of Manasquan on large school of bunker, while we still pick away on shorts with a few keepers mixed in. Most of our bass have been taken on clams in the surf between Seaside Park and IBSP. Rain fish is the predominate bait in our area right now with some small blues in pursuit... John Yac

Why the bass are still reluctant to move south along our beaches are any bodies guess. I'm sure it has all to do with the schools of bunker north of the Manasquan inlet, once again boats are playing the snag and drop game and taking some nice 20 lb. class fish. Thank God we still have a few small blues around so we don't go totally fishless, but that is becoming more and more tiring by the day. So for now waiting and hoping is all we can do... John Yac

Sharpen your hooks, things could be about to pop! There were a couple of nice bass taken in IBSP yesterday on clams and one topped the scales at 27 plus pounds, now that's what I'm talking about. Clams are not the only way to temp these bass to take the hook. Swimming plugs and metal will also work if presented correctly in the right locations and at the right times. So don't just sit there and read the reports, get out there and catch some fish of your own... John Yac
