Those small blues in the surf are really stuffing themselves on all that fresh mullet running our beaches right now. Fluke are still in the mix and more and more keepers are being taken daily as the clock winds down on their season. We heard of some Albies being hooked in the surf but very few. Fresh mullet chunked or whole will take those hungry blues while fresh cut bunker and clams should not be overlooked. On the artificial side metals that match the mullet size and small to medium poppers and swimmers are always a good choice. Remember to use a light wire leader in front of your artificial lures if you don't want to donate tackle... John Yac

Not too many days left in the fluke season, the 27th is just around the corner. It's going to be a long winter thinking about those great tasting fillets so get some while the getting is good... Fishing Report

The mullet in the surf the past couple of days has gotten things going a bit. Blue fish have stepped up the chase with the new bait in town and even the fluke seem to be a little more aggressive in the surf also. But no mullet appearance in the surf goes with out attracting the number one game fish, in my opinion that is, the stripped bass. A few shorts and a couple of keepers have been taken on metals and swimmers though none of the fish have hit the scales as of yet. As far as natural baits go, mullet, clams and cut bunker will always do the trick when any game fish are present in the surf... John Yac
