Fishing Report

Cocktail blues at the south end of IBSP the past few days are taking all kinds of cut baits but mullet seems to be their number one choice. Short to the occasional keeper size fluke are still around chasing gulp and natural strip baits. Crab catches from our dock and rental boats are increasing daily. Still plenty of snappers to go around and the dock is always good for the different fish of the day. Yesterday a just short black drum was taken by one of our younger dock anglers, the look on his face while fighting that monster was priceless.... John Yac

Fishing Report

When blue fish are taking mullet in the surf (Florida frozen that is) although cocktail size and the evenings are getting cooler how far away can the start of fall be? The boat anglers just north of us out of Belmar are really pounding the fluke but for us in this area it's not so much. The areas both inside and outside the Barnegat inlet has been the spot for catching keeper fluke, while the surf is producing mostly shorts. IBSP is still the best bet for anglers trying to place tasty filets on the table, 16 " fluke are available in the surf as long as you check in your 2 fish catch before leaving the park... John Yac

Fishing Report

Great weather but not so great fishing. The surf is kinda slow with the usual fluke and blue fish being the main daytime targets. Brown sharks and the annoying occasional ray at night. Crabbing has still not bounced back from the effect of the full moon, but snappers are still keeping anglers busy from the dock... John Yac

With todays showery forecast you will definitely find more room to fish for a Sunday that is. Yes fluke and blues remain the number one target by day while the brown shark bite continues by night. The fall run is around the corner so don't let it take you by surprise. Now is a great time to check your equipment and make sure everything is in order. Are your rods and reels in good working order? Is your line on your reels full to the right capacity and is it fresh? A good fall run will definitely put all these components to the test. Please don't wait for the last minute to stock up on your favorite lures when they will most likely be in short supply. Follow these preseason checks and your fall fishing will be a breeze. Now catching that fish of a lifetime is another matter... John Yac

Fishing Report

Some of our tight lipped regulars have been picking some nice fluke from the surf at IBSP, these fish are not hitting the scales at the local shops but they are being taken. Gulp rigged all different ways and the tried and true live killie/squid combo are the baits of choice. The brown shark bite at night in the park has been consistent with cut bunker being the number one bait. Crabbing has still not bounced back to the record catches just before the full moon but this may change any day. Snappers are keeping the kids busy while mom and dad crab from our dock... John Yac
