Crabbing remains hot while fluke along the surf grow larger! Yes our rental boats are still cashing in on some large catches of crab along the west side of the bay, and the dock is holding it's own. Larger fluke in the 3 to 5 lb range have been finding their way to the local scales daily. Gulp seems to be the bait of choice but many tight lipped anglers say differently when you can pry something out of them. For the really large fish are usually taken on natural baits rather than artificial ones or at least a combination of both, some thing to keep in mind when out searching for fluke both along the surf or boat. A live killie and squid combination is only one of many natural baits the will definitely work... John Yac
PS: Our boats don't start going out till 7:30 AM daily and all must be back by 5:30 PM, so please plan your trips accordingly. Thanks!

Fluke are gaining in size along our beaches. Small to medium size blues and now with a addition of snappers round out the surf report. Buck tail jigs tipped with gulp is still the top method of catching these larger fluke. Mullet, cut bunker, small poppers and metals all will work on the blues. If you never crabbed before now is the time to give it a try. Crabbing is excellent both from our dock and rental boats. Snappers will fill in your time between soaks of your pots and drop lines... Not much has changed on the surf, small fluke and blues seems to be the only game right now and the methods for catching them also remain the same. Mullet and cut bunker for the blues, poppers and small metals will also work on these fish. Squid, spearing and live killies are some top bait favorites for the fluke. Small buck tails tipped with gulp or gulp fished alone on a 3-way rig will get these fluke to bite. Remember to take advantage of IBSP,s new 2 fluke at 16'' to help put these great tasting fish on your table, just remember to check them in before you leave the park. Crabbing remains on fire on the west side of the bay and our dock catches are improving daily... John Yac

The heading today should be crabbing report. Our rental boats were hammering the crabs on the west side of the bay again yesterday. Catches of 1 to 2 buckets full (5 gal size) were coming in regularly. Crabbing from our dock has also improved with catches of 2 to 3 dozen crabs not un-common. The surf fishing scene remains the same, small to keeper size fluke and small to medium size blues remain the catch of the day. The bay is still producing keeper fluke mixed in with a bunch of shorts and snapper blues although on the smaller side seem to be all over... John Yac

Fishing remains a hit or miss affair off our beaches. There are blue fish and fluke feeding along the surf line, it's just a matter or being at the right place at the right time. Keeping your baits fresh and checking them often is paramount this time of year. You want to be ready when the fish do decide to feed. Buck tail jigs, small metals and poppers will all produce under the right conditions. Fluke are still being caught in the BB and BI buoy areas but you have to weed through all the shorts. Still no word on blow fish in these areas, we are hoping to hear something soon. Crabbing remains good and snapper blues seem to be everywhere... John Yac
