Fishing Report

Today is going to be a perfect day for the beach, with the lack of weekend crowds finding your favorite hole shouldn't be much of a problem. The problem will be finding the fish at home! Times like this you want to keep that bait fresh, fish with at least two rods and plug near by with a third. Fluke are still taking front stage with the occasional bass being caught along the surf line and if you try using smaller hooks and smaller baits you open up the possibility for blow fish or even king fish. Crabbing continues to improve out back and from our boats. The fluke bite in the bay has slowed some what both in numbers and in size... John Yac

The great bass and blue fishing we have been enjoying for the past several weeks in the surf has slowed way down. There is still plenty of bait out there but with fewer fish chasing them. The numbers of fluke in the surf are on the rise, and with the new (2) fish at 16" being allowed in Island Beach State Park putting some of those tasty fillets on the table has become somewhat easer. Remember just find the cuts and drop offs in the surf line, present your baits as naturally as possible, and success should follow. Gulp and squid are the two best baits for this type of fishing. Tip your buck tail jigs or fluke rigs with either of these two baits and give it a shot!... John Yac

The blue fish and fluke have center stage along our beaches while some nice keeper bass pulse in and out of the mix. Cut bunker and clams remain the number one and two baits for the blues and bass and every now and then a nice size fluke will fall to a well presented bunker chunk. Buck tail jigs tipped with gulp or squid is the go to rig in the surf for fluke. The bay still has small blues taking poppers and metals and the boats are picking some nice fluke down by the BB and BI. Crabbing is improving daily along our docks and bulkheads... John Yac

Fishing has slowed somewhat but quality fish are still finding their way to the local scales caught by boat and surf anglers. The fluke bite in the bay in the areas of the BB and BI buoys continues. Small blues are taking poppers and metals. Crabbing from our dock and rental boats is ok but no real blitz yet... John Yac

Good idea to bring your rain gear today when you head out to the beach. A break in yesterday's heat is sure welcome, but wait, were not complaining after that horrible winter, just making a statement. Didn't hear of any fish yesterday and none made it to our cleaning table out back. The bay has a good fluke bite right now in the vicinity of the BB and BI buoys. Blue fish are still being caught on poppers and metals from the boats. Crabbing is steady, no blitz but a steady pick... John Yac`
