Welcome October! The stage is set for the long awaited "Fall Run", with bait continuing to poor out of the inlets and run the beaches. Along with the steady supply of small to medium blues, more and more "just" short bass are finding their way into the action. These bass are taking Polaris style poppers, SP style minnows and rubber paddle tails all in sizes to match the available bait. If striped bass is your main target, concentrate your efforts on first light, last light and the dark of night to increase you chances of hooking up. There is still some keeper crabs being taken out back off our dock, not a ton, but some nice ones never the less... John Yac

Weather and wind this morning is very favorable for surf fishing! With large schools of mullet out front and plenty of 2 to 3 lb. blues hot on their trail, sprinkle in some just short to keeper size bass and you have a delightful early fall bite in the surf. Aside from whole and cut mullet accounting for the lions share of the fish being caught, swimming and popping plugs along with a selection of metals are starting to draw attention. Keeper crabs out back are just about non existent with a few small snappers and a few small blowfish being the only thing happening... John Yac

The calendar may say FALL, but the air and water temps still say SUMMER. The surf bite seems to be stuck in the summer mode with small to medium size blues just about everywhere. The only thing that tells you it's fall is the amount of mullet in the surf and the knowledge of things to come... John Yac
