Fishing Report

Today is a perfect day to fish the surf! Wind tide and temperature are perfect and there is plenty of bait just off shore of us, the boats have been doing well on keepers up to 30 lbs this past week and although the surf guys have been picking on mostly shorts the fall run should bust open real soon. As far as what to use nothing has changed. Clams and cut baits, swimmers and metals with teasers are still the way to go. John Yac

Tired of reading about fish being caught just off our beaches in 50 to 60 feet of water in the 30 plus lb class? Well so are we, but lets not despair, we still have pleanty of time for a body of fish to come in within casting range while on their fall migration route, so hang in there you will be rewarded for your efforts. Today's early blow will give way to more fishable conditions late this afternoon into this evening. Fish that are being caught while pluging are still taking teasers, while mostly shorts with a few keepers mixed in it's still a pick never the less. Bait fishing at times like this is always a good choice while playing the waiting game. Cut bunker, clams, and a live eel (just to shake things up a bit) will always work if there are any fish present. John Yac

Solid reports of fish just north of us last night, not a pick some good steady action for a change with keepers mixed in. The boat guys as usual are having fun when they locate the bait just off our beaches, they have the choice of trolling or casting plugs while we watch and wait. The way things are going we should be into steady fish by the first week of November I hope! We have pleanty of fresh bunker and clams along with live eels.

Fish are being taken by those who are willing to work for them. Not that there is a ton of fish out there right now but you have to be present with rod in hand when they are. Schools of bait have been spotted daily not far off the beaches with birds working them but they are not producing fish. Sand eel style teasers are working on many different type delivery systems. Fresh cut bunker and clams will always work. John Yac

The waiting game goes on! Keeper and short bass are being picked here and there mostly on the evening tides and just before first light. SP minnows or any small style swimming plug along with small to medium size needle fish imitations all fished with teasers seem to be the ticket when the fish are present. Live eels fished from inlet jetties at night are producing some keepers. The best all around bait for anytime of day are fresh clams and fresh cut bunker. We have live eels, fresh bunker and clams along with sand worms. Our frozen bait selection is second to none and we always have fresh salted clams for those who prefer and easy ready to go clam bait.
