Finely some long awaited west winds. Surf conditions today will be a lot more favorable for surf fishing either with bait or artificial lures. We're hearing a lot of talk about sand eels starting to show in our area and that always spells a good long lasting bass bite, we will see. If I were you thin metals, Tsunami rubber eels, and needle fish plugs would be in my bag before I hit the beach. One more last thing, time to tie on those teasers in front of all our artificial presentations. This addition will increase your hook ups dramatically! ... John Yac

So, so pick of short to keeper size bass right now along our beaches. The precipitation and high winds of the past several days has kept many anglers at home. The few dedicated ones who did venture out were rewarded with several nice keeper bass and a bunch of hard fighting shorts. Fresh baits and lures alike are scoring on these fish, with the best bite coming after dark and at first light... John Yac

Gale winds in the forecast today spells trouble for the boat guys, while surfcasters will be fine with the duns at there back! Some quality fish are starting to be taken in our area the past few days. Boaters had fish in the Manasquan Inlet area and just to the south. Now is the time to put in your time in the surf, for one never knows when the adult bunker will move into within casting range with slammer blues and cow bass hot on their tails... John Yac

Moderate to strong SW winds forecasted today thru Saturday. Saturday evening the wind will go NW, a more favorable direction for fishing our beaches. Some of the larger fish up north have slipped down to off of Manasquan Inlet yesterday, with a few lucky boaters cashing in on the action. Good casting swimmers and paddle tails are required in these high wind conditions with 6 oz. to 8 oz. sinkers needed to hold your bait presentations... John Yac

The bass bite in the surf remains a night time game! Swimmers and rubber shads seem to be the one two punch on these fish right now. Daytime surf guys are mainly using bunker and clams with a much slower pick being reported. A nice body of larger bass was feeding on schools of adult bunker just to our north yesterday with several party and private boats hooking up. What we need is for those bunker schools to slide south in close to our beaches, bring those larger bass with them... John Yac
