Fishing Report

Not the greatest fishing conditions by any means but small blues and bass are being taken daily. Cut baits and artificial lures are running about 50/50 on their fish catching ability. Bring rain gear with you today just to be on the safe side. The weekend right now is looking good weather wise and the arrival of bigger fish should happen any day. Quiet out back, there is no one really trying. We will still have a few boats in the water for the weekend... John Yac

Rain gear today for sure! All kinds of bait including a good amount of mullet are within casting range of our beaches and inlets, bringing in small to medium size blues with short bass also mixed in. There is word of a couple of keeper bass taken the last few days but we can't verify that report. Sandy Hook and Raritan Bay areas had some nice keeper bass action over the weekend. These fish were taken by boat and surf fisherman alike, on bait and artificial methods. Remember we have GREEN CRABS in stock with LIVE EELS coming in by the weekend... John Yac

Fluke season ends midnight tonight! Last chance to put a few of those tasty fillets on your dinner table. The surf still has a lot of short fluke with a few really nice keepers mixed in, (we still have killies!). Small to medium size blues along with some hungry small bass are chasing schools of bait including mullet in close. With great weather in the forecast for today, why not hit the beach!... John Yac

Another good surf fishing day on tap! With SE winds and plenty of small bait including mullet joining the mix, should bring some decent blue fish action today. Only two days left in the NJ fluke season and there is still some nice flatties moving in and out of the surf line for the taking. We still have live killies in stock. Live eels and green crabs will be in shortly, call for availability. Crabbers out back are still picking a few keeper crabs... John Yac

Things were about the same yesterday, small blues, small fluke, small baits. Today with stronger easterly winds in the forecast, holding bottom will be in the 8 oz. plus range. Remember when you are casting 8 plus ounces, give those rods a break! More of a lob cast will due just fine, for 9 out of 10 times the fish are at your feet! Crabbing out back remains slow, but snapper blues and small blow fish are keeping the woodbee crabbers happy... John Yac
