The Latest and Most Relevant Fishing Updates You Should Know

Fishing Report

Fluke or crabs, your choice! Great weather with two of the favorite summertime table fares available now for the taking. IBSP is the most popular spot for fluke fishing due to its many un-guarded fishing areas available. Crabbing is a matter of getting yourself to the west side of the bay by boat or land, boat being your number one choice, and get into some hot crabbing right now, (see our FB page for some pics of rental boat catches yesterday). Our dock out back is also producing some nice keeper crabs also, just not the numbers coming in from the other side by boat... John Yac

Fishing Report

Fluke out front in the surf on bucktail gulp combos. Nice keeper crabs being taken on the west side of the bay. A decent catch of keeper cabs can be had by those willing to put in some time crabbing from our dock out back. A little early for snapper blues and blowfish for the kids but that should change shortly... John Yac

Fishing Report

HAPPY INDEPENDANCE DAY EVE!! It's been crazy around the shop since the crabs have been on the attack. Finding time to write a brief report is becoming next to impossible, so let me bring you up to date while I can. The surf fishing in IBSP has been good with fluke in the 18" to 22" inch class taking bucktail gulp combos with a plain gulp teaser fished above. Color is a matter of choice, white is the tried and true standard while chartreuse has it's followers and is a close second in terms of production. Look for cuts and drop-offs along the surf line to cast your presentations. Small blues and a few striped bass are being taken on cut bunker when these fish are in casting range of the beach. Night time sharking is gaining participants as social media post of large sand tiger sharks being caught and released increases. The real excitement around here has been the nice size catches of keeper crabs coming in from the west side of the bay in our area. Just a short ride in one of our rental boats and your in the thick of things. The dock out back is producing some nice keepers also but just not the boat numbers. That brings you guys up to date for now. Enjoy your holiday week! Stay safe and have fun!... John Yac

Fishing Report

Some small blues, small bass, mixed sizes of fluke and even some black fish can be taken in IBSP around the north jetty area. The surf has been producing some nice fluke to those targeting them. Fluke fishing is not a lazy man's game, your presentations must be in constant motion and mobility is the key to success. The reward for all this hard work is some fine table fare, even for those (I don't really like fish!) eaters. The dock out back is in crab catching mode, with our rental boats coming back in with some really nice catches of keeper crabs...John Yac

Fishing Report

The spring run seems to be heating up! The back bay in the last few days have been giving up some quality fish. Blues up to 10 lbs and the biggest bass our shop has weighted in from the bay hit the scales at 18 lbs yesterday. The fish was caught by Phil Dirt on fresh cut bunker fished right on the bottom, Phil also had a 11 lb bass . The action is spread out from the 37 bridge areas to Oyster Creek. As far as Island Beach State Park goes it has extended its hours and access areas, they are now open at 6:30 AM to 10:00 PM and you may fish down as far as area A-23. Reports of keeper size bass was on the rise yesterday from the park where the fish were taking clams fished on HI - LO rigs....John Yac
