Mullet, mullet and more mullet is the cry of surf fisherman fishing our beaches. Blue fish of all sizes are present right now hot on the heels of all those mullet. Last few days for those fisherman chasing fluke for the table before the end of the season. Sand eels are also starting to show in greater numbers as last fall they were the bait of choice. A few nice keeper bass have been taken on swimming plugs which is always a good sign for this time of the year. John Yac

Fishing Report

Striped bass continue to show up along our beaches and are more than willing to take a well presented lure. Island Beach State Park has been the leader in this early bass action with a few fish taken from the Seaside Hights fishing pier. Still plenty of mullet in the surf with small blues and some fluke for the taking. John Yac

Report 9-17

Fished near the inlet with my 2 boys earlier today after getting a tip from one of the old timers who frequent the shop.. We caught over 100 blowfish in a little over 2 hours, all on salted clam and chumlogs... Now is the time to fill your freezer with these tasty fish before they move on... Johnny docks

Fishing Report

Ava's and teasers! sound familiar? Looks like the fall run of striped bass is not so far off. Reports coming from Island beach state park of keeper bass being taken on ava's brings  back memories of last years outstanding fall run. Mullet is still the predominant bait in the area. Small blue fish and fluke are still keeping fisherman happy. Fresh mullet on mullet rigs and spearing and squid will cover your fresh bait needs. Small bucktails and gulp along with small metals will cover your artificials. John Yac
