Flatties are still being caught closer to Barnegat inlet and north of the Mantoloking bridge... Clam chum and bloodworms are still the ticket...John

Got report with pics from a local who ran out of Manasquan and found bait and bass from Bay Head-SSH... He had some knockdowns on the troll and caught fish drifting live and cut bunker off the beaches... Also got reports from one of the Belmar boats that had 30+ bass on their trip yesterday...John

It seems the only thing biting in the surf right now are fluke. These great tasting flatties are falling to bucktail gulp combos fished with a teaser above. This method is by no means the only way to score on these fluke. Live killies fished with squid strips or killies fished alone are also good producers. Be creative with your presentations and keep your baits moving at all time... John Yac

All quiet on the surf front yesterday! It's partly due to lack of interest caused by the lower numbers of catchable game fish for this time of year. Our dock out back was loaded with wood bee crabbers picking away at some nice keeper crabs, not a ton by any means, but crabs for the table never the less. "LIVE KILLIES" are finally in, we have a supplier now who will keep us supplied during these scarce times... John Yac

Bluefish and fluke seems to be the bite right now in the surf. Not a ton of fish by any means, but a occasional ben in the rod is always nice. Cut bunker is luring the blues to take the hook while bucktail gulp combos are accounting for the flatties taken. Crabbing is definitely getting hot in the bay. Crabbing from a boat, if you can, gives you the opportunity of hitting several spots with little to no effort compared to shore bound crabbers... John Yac
