Rays continue to keep bait guys busy in the surf. These large winged beauties will put line, reel and rod to the test. Some fishermen call them pests and some just enjoy the fight. Fluke fishing in the surf is solid on buck tail jigs tipped with gulp, the hard part is locating the fish but once you find them, fish on! Sharking on the night tides continues with some nights producing better than others. Snappers along with crabs are plentiful in the bay... John Yac

The most under rated pan fish in now in abundance in the surf and in the back bays. What am I talking about? Nice size snapper blues! Yes these great eating fish will hit just about any small reflective metal along with spearing, small strips of squid or clam. With their presents in the surf, larger fluke should be hot on there heels. Weather's HOT fishing's NOT. Sorry for such a downer of an opening, but it is what it is. Surf fishing in our area seems to be on hold for the most part, and were hoping upon hope that the upcoming cold front will break this oppressive weather and kick start the surf action a bit... John Yac

Not much to report due to yesterday's oppressive weather. With today's better forecast the slow bluefish fluke pick in the surf should continue. The night time shark action remains good in IBSP. Crabbing in the bay is steady while small snapper blues are on the rise... John Yac

If you are new to surf fishing and really never seen a cow nose ray up close with a 3 ft. plus wing span now is the time to check them out. IBSP yesterday at top of the tide had "rays on parade" from the wash to out passed the first wave, rays in singles, twos, and threes lazily flapped their wings as they moved south with the tide. Not the greatest thing for the surf fisherman but interesting to watch never the less. On the brighter note, sharking in the park after dark is doing well. Remember these Sand Tigers should be released unharmed ASAP for they are on the endangered species list... John Yac
