Small striped bass reported in the surf. Reports of small bass being taken on small rubber jigs, teasers, and buck tails came into the shop recently. These fish are spread out along the surf line in decent numbers so why not give them a shot and put a bend in your rod... John Yac

A brisk weather start to the season but with the proper dress there is no problem. Winter flounder fishing has been a pick in all the usual hot spots. And believe it or not a few keeper crabs were taken Easter Sunday off the dock. The surf is quiet right now but that will change shortly as schools of bait start to appear... John Yac

The bay and rivers have been producing some short to keeper bass, while winter flounder in our area remains a slow pick. The good flounder action seems to be at the Mantoloking bridge area right now. Small plugs, jigs and worms are working on the bass. Worms and plenty of chum is the way to go with the winter flounder... John Yac

Things are starting to happen. Small bass are taking worms, clams and small swimming plugs on night tides. The shop is carrying blood worms, fresh and salted clams and a verity of frozen baits including local spearing. Don't forget to renew your saltwater registration for 2016.
