Nice stretch of weather forecasted for the next two days. Ocean temps are down a bit and we still have bait in close, small blues are still around with reports of short to keeper size bass increasing daily. A couple of nice bass were taken yesterday trolling MAJA bunker spoons off the IBSP bathing beaches. Mullet and clams, poppers, swimmers and metals are the tools of the trade. Looking for Tony MAJA spoons, rods, outriggers, lines etc.? We have it all and at great prices too! ... John Yac

The clock is ticking! Half of October gone and still no Striped bass to speak of. It's starting to look like one of those late in the year striped bass runs where you just have enough time to choke down your Thanksgiving day meal before you head back to the beach because the big boys are on the feed! The weather this weekend should give us more favorable winds with a cleaner surf out front. Clams, swimmers and thin metals should be your baits of choice when looking for those elusive striped bass. We must have patience, they're coming! ... John Yac

Rain gear this morning but you might be able to peel things of by afternoon. While we still wait on the southward bass migration we still have plenty of small blues around to take up our time. Mullet remains the bait of choice for these little guys while poppers, small swimmers and thin metals will fill in your artificial selection nicely.

Summer? Fall? you pick, and if your confused, so are the fish. Striped bass in our area sensing that the water temps are still too warm to start them on their fall run and feeding frenzie, remain in a holding pattern regardless of the calendar date. Thank God for the small blues keeping the anglers busy till things return to normal. The southerly winds of the next few days should bring down the water temps a bit and maybe get things started. Till then it's a waiting game we're all too familiar with... John Yac

I think the temperatures are going in the wrong direction for this time of year. Blues are still around like it's late summer, mullet, rainfish, and bunker are all present, but the bass are just not on the feed, at least off the surf in our area that is. Some short to keeper size bass are being reported from the surf here and there but none have hit our scales as of yet. Cut bunker and mullet are still the top choices for the bluefish, while clams and bunker will do nicely for the bass. On the artificial side of the coin, poppers and small metals for the blues with swimmers and thin metals rigged with teasers will turn the head of a feeding bass... John Yac
