Fishing Report

Fluke and blues, fluke and blues seem to be the cry of those anglers fishing IBSP. Plenty of small to keeper size fluke and 1 lb. to 5 lb. blues are in the surf right now, so why not take advantage of the situation and put some tasty fillets on the table. The fluke are hot on buck tail jigs tipped with gulp while the blues are chasing small metals and poppers. Cut baits for either fish will work but the artificial baits seem to have the edge right now. Crabbing remains slow with snappers and small blow fish still being taken from our dock... John Yac

The fluke in the surf must know they have less than 30 days to go for this years season. They are making themselves quite available as of lately, buck tail jigs tipped with gulp remains the number one method of catching these great tasting fish but cut strip baits are also producing. There are still some small blues in the surf just to mix things up a bit. We should see mullet soon the first sign the fall run is getting underway... John Yac

Well the summer crowds are finely gone and the Labor Day weekend is now in our rear view mirror. The weather this week will make you feel like it's the middle of summer, but it's time to put in some serious thinking and preparation for the fall fishing that's just around the corner. The fluke fishing in the surf is holding up just fine, they seem to like the warmer weather, while the cocktail blues are harder to find. Still a few sharks and rays at night but all this will change in the blink of an eye as we start to getting through September. Crabbing is slowing down now and it's becoming harder and harder to put a decent catch together.... John Yac

Summer is sure exiting on a high note, weather wise that is. Ocean conditions are much better as far as rip currents go. IBSP for some reason seems to be the location for most of the daytime fish being caught. Small blues and fluke remain the main targets during the day with sharks after dark. Crabbing remains decent but the amount of shorts you have to weed through to put a catch together increases. Snapper and now small blow fish are daily being taken from our dock... John Yac

Strong rip currents continue today so stay alert while fishing the surf. As far as fishing goes more of the same, small blues and fluke on both sides of IBSP. Cut baits and small metals for the blues while live killie and squid combos also buck tail jigs tipped with gup will take the fluke. We have live killies and fresh bunker and expect a shipment of fresh clams today. Crabbing is sill decent from our boats and dock while snapper blues and now some blow fish are keeping dock anglers happy... John Yac
