Fishing Report

The surf is giving up a nice size fluke now and again to those willing to work at it, and by nice size I mean 5 plus lbs. These fish are far from the norm this time of year but they do exist. Blue fishing in the bay seems to be slowing down and the fluke bite in the BB and BI buoy areas and behind Barnegat Light continues. Still no solid word on blow fish but they should be showing up soon. Snappers are getting bigger each day and some small black drum are also showing up off our dock. Crabbing remains steady and some crabbers are doing better then others due to method used and type of bait fished.

Beach remains quiet with some small fluke in the wash. Now and again a keeper will jump on and make your day, all the more reason to fish Island Beach State Park this time of year if your looking for fluke from the surf. The new (2) fluke at 16" is definitely helping to put filets on the table when it comes to those tasty fluke. The bay on the other hand is where most of the action is right now although mainly by boat. Nice keeper size fluke are being taken in the areas of the BB and BI buoys and also behind Barnegat Light. Also some small bass are being taken in Barnegat Inlet. No solid word on the blow fishing in the bay as of yet. Crabbing remains steady but you have to work for your catch... John Yac

Kinda quiet yesterday on the beach, not too many guys fishing. Fluke and small blues remain the prime targets both in the surf and in the bay. Crabbing has been a up and down game so far. The boats that are looking around are coming in with some nice catches while crabbers from our dock are having a hit or miss experience. Small poppers and metals are working on the blues while buck tail jigs tipped either gulp or squid are doing the trick on the fluke. Fresh clams, fresh bunker, sand worms and LIVE KILLIES round off our fresh and live baits... John Yac

More nice weather today, we are sure having a great summer so far. Fishing remains the same, small blues and small to keeper size fluke in the surf. Crabbing in the bay has been good if you are willing to put in some time and if crabbing from a boat keep trying different spots till your happy with your catch. No blow or spot yet off the dock and the snappers are still small but that will change any day. Remember we will be carrying live killies and sand worms all summer long along with or full selection of fresh and frozen baits... John Yac

Arthur is long gone but not the great beach weather we have been enjoying. Fishing is a up and down situation now depending on location and time of day. Still some bass being taken here and there with small blue fish in the mix. Fluke remain the number one target for most surf anglers and with the new (2) fish at 16" in IBSP bringing those fine eating fish to your table has become a little easier. Remember we have live killies at the shop now and you just can't beat a natural bait presentation when it comes to catching these fish.... John Yac
