Fishing Report

The spring run continues just a lot slower, blue fish remain the dominate catch in the surf with some keeper bass mixed in. Fluke are also showing up mostly shorts but every now and then a nice 3 to 5 lb flatty makes its presents known. Cut bunker, mullet and clams account for the majority of the fish being caught. Buck tail jigs tipped with either gulp or squid is the way to go for those great tasting fluke... John Yac

Blue fish and striped bass are still being caught along our beaches but in fewer numbers. Fluke catches on the other hand are on the rise. The boats are still chasing the bunker schools and scoring on some nice bass, but is seems the large majority of bass being caught are to the north of us. The back bay is still producing small to medium size blue fish and a few more keeper crabs are being caught each day from our dock... John Yac

We had a nice 34.45 lb bass hit our scales yesterday caught by Lou Spatarr while trolling one of those HOT TONY MAJA SPOONS out front. The blue fish and bass bite continues with a few keeper fluke mixed in here and there, a few less fish then in the past few weeks but action never the less. Fresh cut bunker and clams are still the lucky charms. While poppers, swimers and metals will also produce. The blue fish bite in the back bay continues with small poppers being the lure of choice. Crabs still very slow.... John Yac

Not much to report due to the weather conditions yesterday, but the few anglers that did venture out were rewarded with some nice bass and blues for their effort. The back bay is still producing small to medium size blues on small poppers, metals and cut baits. The crabbing is still slow compared to this time last year, but that should change any day. It's going to be a great weekend weather wise, so why not come down and sample the good surf fishing or just rent one of our boats and chase down some of those tasty small blue fish in the bay... Rain rain go away! It should be out of here by mid day or at least so they say. Meanwhile bass and blue fish control the surf bite, these fish are being taken on cut bunker and clams for the most part. Poppers, swimmers and metals will work if bait is not your thing. The back bay has come alive with small to medium size blues. Small poppers and metals are accounting for the largest catches from the boats and are also producing from the beaches and docks. It was a nice sight to see some keeper crabs come up in the pots yesterday, not a whole bunch but a nice sign that things are about to pop.... John Yac
