Fishing Report

Not only are the blue fish controlling the beaches they are now taking over the back bay in all sizes. Striped bass are still in the mix on the ocean side keeping anglers guessing and holding there interest. The boats are still finding the schools of bunker and using the snag and drop method to hook up with some nice size bass. The trollers are also hooking up, but finding the fish when the schools of bait are not visable is no easy task.... John Yac

Yes they are still catching bluefish, striped bass and now a few keeper fluke are finding there way into the mix. Blue fish remain the bulk of the catch both in the surf and now in the back bay. One of our boat rentals came in with 3 nice blue fish yesterday the largest one was 10 lbs. all the fish were taken on bait. Still not much to report on the crabbing scene and the bottom fishing off our dock has been slow... John Yac

Nice steady pace continues in the surf! Plenty of mid size blues with small to keeper size bass mixed in. Fluke are still showing their faces along with the blues and bass. Cut bunker and clams are the baits of choice. Poppers, metals and buck tail jigs tipped with gulp or squid are all good casting choices.... John Yac

Blue fish, striped bass and fluke are keeping the surf angler busy, not a all out blitz but a nice steady pick. The boaters are doing a bit better trolling large spoons and using the snag and drop method when the schools of bunker are present. The back bay is a slow pick of small blues and some nice keeper fluke. Not much happening on the crabbing front but possibly after this warmer weekend things should begin to pop... John Yac

Looking for a Grand Slam in surf fishing? Now is a great time to give it a try. Blue fish, keeper size bass and keeper size fluke are all in the surf right now. The fish are being taken on all the usual cut baits, bunker, clam and squid. Poppers, metals and buck tail jigs tipped with gulp or gulp fished alone cover the artificial scene. The bay has a few 2 to 3 lb blues being taken on small metals and small chunks of bunker. Keeper size crabs are starting to find their way into the pots but not in any great numbers. Some nice softies were scooped from the pilings yesterday, always a pleasant surprise... John Yac
