Fishing Report

There is still plenty of quality fish out there but it's as always, you have to be in the right place at the right time! The bite seems to be on bait during the day and plugs during the night. The fish will be here for a while yet as long as the large schools of bunker stay in our area. And if the sand eels move in we could have fish well into December!

Quality fish are still around on both day and night tides! Not a blitz by any chance, but anglers willing to put in the time with plugs or bait are being rewarded. The secret to success is keep moving! Find the bait and hopefully the fish will be on them.

Some quality bass are starting to show up on our beaches. Most of the action has been on plugs at first and last light. Schools of large bunker have moved in close to the beach with the bass on their tails. Blackfishing, although with only 1fish limit at present, is very productive along most rock piles and bulk heads. The fish are taking green crabs fished on jigs.

LOCAL'S SUMMER BEGINS!! Time has come when us locals get our beaches and favorite fishing spots back, not that they are empty but being closed out of places is over! The fall run will be starting before you know it, so make sure your gear is up to the challenge. Re-spool, check guides and tips on your rods and make sure your reels are in top form. Don't forget to sharpen all your hooks and replace missing lures in your surf bag. The fishing scene in the surf at present is, small blues and fluke with an occasional showing of albies, spanish mackerel and bonitos. The bay has snapper blues, spot and blowfish with a slow pick of blue claw crabs this rounds up what is happening out back.
