Some quality bass are starting to show up on our beaches. Most of the action has been on plugs at first and last light. Blackfishing, although with only 1fish limit at present, is very productive along most rock piles and bulk heads. The fish are taking green crabs fished on jigs.

LOCAL'S SUMMER BEGINS!! Time has come when us locals get our beaches and favorite fishing spots back, not that they are empty but being closed out of places is over! The fall run will be starting before you know it, so make sure your gear is up to the challenge. Re-spool, check guides and tips on your rods and make sure your reels are in top form. Don't forget to sharpen all your hooks and replace missing lures in your surf bag. The fishing scene in the surf at present is, small blues and fluke with an occasional showing of albies, spanish mackerel and bonitos. The bay has snapper blues, spot and blowfish with a slow pick of blue claw crabs this rounds up what is happening out back.

Fishing Report

Fluke and blues are still keeping surf anglers busy! Bucktail gulp for the fluke and small to medium size metals, swimmers and poppers will get the attention of the blues which run from snapper to tailor in size. Albies/Bonita will be here before you know it, so it's not a bad idea to have a rod ready with epoxy jigs and small thin metals to attract those speedsters. The back bays are seeing huge schools of peanut bunker with snapper blues occasionally slashing through. Small spot and blowfish are also in the mix. The crabbing has slowed down as of late. But as crabbing goes, it can heat up again.

The summer beat goes on! Fluke and blues are being taken in the surf from our local beaches. IBSP seems to be the beach of choice for most summer surf anglers. Gulp fished on a buck tail seems to be the number one choice for the summer time flatties. This combo has accounted for some nice fish being taken in the surf. Small metals and assorted poppers and swimmers have been scoring on the small to medium size blues as of late. Fishing bait on the bottom is a sure way to get into rays and dog fish! Crabbing in the bay is just OK, not on fire, but decent catches are being made by those willing to put in the time. Snappers are still slow but spot and blowfish are on the rise.
