Fishing Report

Fishing yesterday slowed down a bit depending on who you ask, but blue fish and small bass are still being taken. The slowing down of the fishing is probably due to the winding down of the mullet run. The run is not over by any means just fewer mullet available compared to the last few weeks. This weekend marks the 21st annual Governor's Surf Fishing Tournament at Island Beach State Park. For more info visit www.state.nj.us or call 609-748-4347. Our shop will have longer hours Saturday and Sunday to help fill your every surf fishing need. John Yac

Fishing Report

October 1st already? The summer is in our rear view mirror now and the the fall bass run is just around the corner. We still have blues in the surf and ever increasing reports of keeper bass being caught. The game remains the same, mullet fished on a mullet rig for the blues and clams on a high low rig for the bass. As for the artificial lures, small metal, poppers and small swimming plugs will do the trick. John Yac

The crabs decided not to show today on the dock but the blowfish and snappers did. There was a couple short bass also caught with clam. 1-3 pound blues were the deal again today from the surf. Fresh or frozen mullet and metals was the way to go. Mario

Crabbing on the dock today seemed to improve a little with a few customers getting 6-10 keepers but they put their tie in for them. A lot of blowfish were also caught today with one of our regulars getting 25 in about 2 hours. One of our rental boats came back with 17 keeper crabs and a bunch of snapper blues. The surf produced a good amount of small blues in the 1-3 pound range. Mullet and metal was working best according to a few customers who were out targeting them.   Mario
