Fishing Report

The surf continues to show some life! With schools of adult bunker and balls of rain fish it's starting to look fishy, maybe just wish full thinking on my part, but 1 to 3 lb. blues are now in the mix with some nice keeper fluke. Thin metals are scoring on these blues when present, while bucktail gulp combos are still number one in the fluking department. Crabbing remains a matter of weeding through a ton of shorts to put some keepers on the table. Snappers are still there but remain on the small side... John Yac

Fishing Report

The fluke bite in the surf heats up! Yesterday some quality fish hit our local scales from IBSP and near by areas. These fish were taken on bucktail gulp combos, bucktails alone and gulp alone fished on a high-lo rig. The bite started at first light and lasted throughout a good part of the day. Crabbing in the bay is just ok right now, with many shorts to weed through to get a few keepers. Snapper fishing is good but the fish are on the small side... John Yac

Fishing Report

I wish I could tell you they are killing the fluke both from the surf and by boat right now but I honestly can't. Fluke fishing in the surf has been hit or miss for a while. Thank God for the 2 fish at 16" regulation in IBSP, for it puts the odds of bringing home dinner a little more in your favor. The boat guys I have spoken to are frustrated with the little to no action both in the bay and around our inlet areas. There is plenty of bait in the bay, peanut bunker and spearing just no real numbers of fish on them. I'm hoping the bite will change both out front and back in the bay as we approach September. Crabbing is good, not tons of full bushels as we had in July but decent never the less, you just have to work a little harder to put dinner on the table!... John Yac

Fishing Report

Hard southerly winds kept most surf anglers at home yesterday, so there's not much to report from the surf. With a bit less winds forecasted for today possibly a few more anglers will give it a shot. Fluke should still be present in all the usual spots with some snapper to cocktail size blues mixed in. Crabbing is still decent out back, you have to just put in a little more time to put a catch together... John Yac

Fishing Report

The worst fishing and worst weather conditions of the season are always found in August. Yesterday's report will bear that out for sure. So if you're a optimist like I am, things can on get better! Fluke fishing in the surf for the few who were willing to try was a slow pick at best. A few cocktail blues were also reported. The crabbing out back off our dock was a matter of battling the strong southerly winds and tons of short crabs to put together a small catch of keepers. Even the snappers were spotty. Lets see what today brings... John Yac
