Fishing Report

Ava's and teasers! sound familiar? Looks like the fall run of striped bass is not so far off. Reports coming from Island beach state park of keeper bass being taken on ava's brings back memories of last years outstanding fall run. Mullet is still the predominant bait in the area. Small blue fish and fluke are still keeping fisherman happy. Fresh mullet on mullet rigs and spearing and squid will cover your fresh bait needs. Small bucktails and gulp along with small metals will cover your artificials. John Yac

Hot humid stormy weather is finely gone. The surf to spite the large waves of the past few days remains clean. Mullet are in the surf along with some sand eels. Fluke and blue fishing in Island Beach state remains good. News of a few small keeper bass on plugs is a good sign that the full run is just around the corner. A tackle check is in order this time of year. Make sure your line is fresh and don't forget to stock up on ava and teaser rigs now before the fun begins. John Yac

Blue fish and fluke are still the order of the day. Fresh cut bait, small metals, small bucktails and don't forget gulp! All of which will put food on the table. Crabbing still remains a challenge while snapper blues, spot and blow fish keep anglers busy in the bay. John Yac

Another slow day for crabbing off the dock but the rental boats seemed to pick up a few.
Blowfish, kingfish and snappers were caught off the dock all day keeping families busy.
Kingfish and blues off the surf were also brought in.
