Great weather and fish the are starting to bite, what more can we ask for? Short to keeper size bass are taking SP minnows along with clams and cut bunker along our beaches. Most of the action has been coming on the back side of high tide. No real hot spot to report, these fish are being taken from Ortley Beach south through IBSP. The blue fishing in the bay has been spotty at best, but the schools of adult bunker in the area of the bridge have been impressive!... John Yac
>>> FYI >>> We should have boats in the water for rent in a week or so please call for availability <<<

Big blues off our dock!! >> Late yesterday afternoon was the start of the spring bluefish run out back off our pier. The long awaited yellow eyed slammers are out back! Blues in the double digit weight class were being taken on cut bunker. It's sure is good to see these tackle busters in our part of the bay once again. I'm sure the bite will last a bit, for the bay is loaded with adult size bunker, one of the items high on their favorite foods menu. The size of the bass in our area is also increasing. Fish in the mid to upper 30" class range both in the surf and bay have been taken yesterday. The tried and true surf clam along with the well proven SP minnow were responsible for these larger fish. With the warmer weather forecasted for this up coming week, I'm feeling things could just bust wide open! So make sure you have all your ducks in a row, it's almost game on!! ... John Yac

The bluefish finally made a hello call yesterday in both our inlets, Manasquan and Barnegat alike. No blitz by any means but a fair showing by these yellow eyed tackle busters never the less. Action on small bass is starting to heat up out front on the night tides, this action is coming mostly all on bait... John Yac

All the small bass you want is the cry coming from the anglers putting in their time in anticipation of the spring run. These fish are showing up both out front and back in the bay. Clams, bunker and blood worms will cover your natural bait choices, while small swimmers, rubber jigs and poppers will work on the artificial side. Still waiting on the blue fish in the bay to appear, a few anglers fishing off the end of our dock have been cashing in on the small bass the past few days... John Yac

Great weather forecasted for today! Bait is starting to appear out front and that's always a good sign. The bay is still producing small to keeper size bass on both bait and lures alike. We're still waiting for the spring run of slammers to arrive in the bay, any day now for sure, "we hope"... John Yac
