Favorable winds, bait present, seasonable air and water temperatures, what more can a surf angler want? Maybe some of those big girls the boat guys have been playing with for the past several days for starters would be nice! But patience is a virtue they say and never more true than in the life of a surfcaster. Yes good thing come to those who wait and put in there time. So for now the pick goes on with small to keeper size bass taking cut bunker, clams, swimming plugs, poppers and metals. We have FRESH BUNKER, FRESH and SALTED CLAMS, LIVE EELS and GREEN CRABS for your fishing pleasure... John Yac

Surf guys may be still picking, but Tony Maja #4 bunker spoons strikes again! Got a call last night from Tony's field rep. Walt D. reporting another banner day trolling spoons off the bathing beaches of IBSP. Walt and a buddy trolled up 20 nice bass from 25 lbs. to 46 lbs. before exhaustion set in. Now that's a dream day of fishing in any boaters mind! Way to go Walt! As far as the surf is concerned, a few bass taken in the 28" to 35" class fell to bait and plugs alike along our local beaches. Blackfish season opens today! (6) fish at 15"ea. is now the bag limit till Dec. 31st... John Yac
>>> ATTENTION <<< We will have FRESH CLAMS in the shell coming in today!

We seem to be in a holding pattern right now! The bass bite in our area remains the same both in size and weight of fish being taken. The hotter action right now seems to be to our north with schools of peanut bunker along with schools of adult bunker present. All we need is for those schools of bait to slide south and bring those hungry bass with them. But for now the few anglers that are fishing are catching a few keeper bass both on bait and on plugs during the day and night tides... John Yac

Find the bunker by day for some snag and drop action. Fish cut bunker or clams by day in the usual good looking spots. Plug hard at night and keep moving. These three methods should put you into some nice fall run bass, with a little luck of course! The weather looks good for the next few days and there are some nice schools of bunker around. So no excuses! Get out there and hopefully put a bend in that rod... John Yac

Well some boat guys and some surf guys alike had some outstanding fall run bass action yesterday. A large adult bunker school showed up yesterday from Lavallette and just to the north. At first the few boats in the area were snagging and dropping to some quality fish. As the surf guys watched in envy their prayers were answered, a whale pushed the bunker in close along with the bass hot on their trail, bingo!! The few lucky anglers who were in the right place at the right time scored heavily. Large poppers of all kinds and colors were the ticket to hooking up with these fish. A couple of the more skilled anglers landed 15 - 20 fish before the action ended, wow! It's on guys!, just find the bait and hope for the right conditions... John Yac
