Bring a extra layer today, below normal temperatures will add a chill to you fishing for sure! Meanwhile the bass bite remains the same for the surf and boat fisherman alike. Find the bait and if the bass are on them your in! If not, it will be just another frustrating fishless day. The number one artificial in the surf remains any slim looking presentation that can be taken for a sand eel, this selection will increase your odds of hooking up by a long shot. For those anglers who bait fish only, cut bunker and clams is the way to go. As for off shore, the sharpies I have been talking to all have been saying trolling bunker spoons in conjunction with mojo rigs is the way to go. Not a troller? With plenty of bait and a good amount of just short bass in the surf, the fall run is so far going in the right direction for the surf angler. November is the usual big fish month in the surf. The boat guys however have been into these 30 to 40 lb. plus fish for several days now trolling bunker spoon and mojo rigs. Jigging, and when possible, snag and drop, has also accounted for some trophy size fish for these "off shore" anglers. So with a little luck this body of larger fish will swing in closer to beach and give the "surf bound" angler a shot at some really nice fish. The back side of IBSP around the area known as the sedges, is also producing small to keeper size bass on swimmers, poppers and metals alike... John Yac

Daylight may end as early as 4:30 PM this time of year, but as of late the bass bite is just beginning! Yes keeper bass have been chasing sand eel looking presentations under the cover of darkness for the past several days. Any thin looking presentation will do be it plastic, metal or rubber. Fish your favorite lure with a sand eel looing teaser out front and you're in business. While the big girls remain off shore during this fall run so far, the surf bite of bass is increasing both in numbers and size daily... John Yac

Light winds and clear skies today will bring a few more anglers to our local beaches. There were a few nice keeper bass taken in IBSP on bait yesterday with one going 50" on a salted clam. Not a ton of fish by any means, but definitely a good sign that there is some life in close. The back side of the park is still producing some just short bass on swimmers and poppers alike... John Yac
